The magic formula: Eat less, exercise more. Sounds pretty simple right? Well, that’s what it really does boil down to, and that’s exactly what this month’s success spotlight subject, Helzo, says worked for her!
Here’s her story:
“I’ve lost 42 pounds and I did it by basically eating less and exercising more.
“I did not cut any food groups as I think this is unhealthy, but I did reduce my carb intake. I never have any junk in the house that I like, so for the children I buy treats that I don’t like!
“I buy lots of colorful vegetables, salad and fruit and eat as much of it as I can with a bit of protein. I know that cutting alcohol is a great help for me, but not always possible, so I go for the lower calorie options of wine and soda or vodka and diet coke.
“I walk 5 or 6 miles 3 or 4 times a week and just generally try to get out more with the hubby and children when the weather’s nice.
“But most importantly I recognize my achievements no matter how small the weight loss, even staying the same weight, and I reward myself with a nonfood treat for every few pounds!
“Accept the compliments, and appreciate how well you’ve done while thinking about what you want to achieve next. Don’t expect it overnight, because these things take time, but you can do it and it’s so worth it.”
